When the conversation comes up . . . you know the one, where would you like to visit if you could go anywhere in the world? Well my first answer has always been Alaska. Research and planning, daydreaming and scheming has been going on for months maybe years. Unfortunately this is not going to happen. Guess I will just stick to the travel channel and live vicariously through those that do.

An Alaskan Adventure that wasn't
A Ferry leaves out of Bellingham Washington and carries you and your vehicle all the way up the inland passages and waterways to various points in British Columbia and Alaska. I was to get off at Haines Junction after a three day Boat ride enjoying magnificent scenery along the way. Almost 775 miles of driving through the Northern tip of British Columbia and through much of the Yukon and then into Alaska and on through small towns laden with history from the local Athabaskan tribes to Klondike Gold rush tales all awaited me. My destination, Anchorage to meet up with my brother John and then fly home. I was hoping to do some sight seeing and maybe even take in some of Denali National Park. Excited to see black bear and grizzly, moose, eagle and osprey and mountain sheep in the wild. To actually experience the Northern Lights in person! Seems like the ideal opportunity right?
