Worm Jerky

Nudge is a black cat that lives down the street. Sometimes I am his designated care giver when his people go off to catch trout for him. This morning I went over to his house and stopped to admire a large glistening Raven sitting on a low hanging wire with a shriveled worm in his mouth. Much to my surprise he did not fly off but cocked his head curiously as I approached. I made soft soothing noises and asked him why he was eating dead dry worms. He seemed to convey the thought that to him (or her) it is much like beef jerky would be to us humans. Worm Jerky . . . who knew? And you thought this was about the cat. Ha!
