Sausalito Dog Park

Emma and I just returned from a romp at the local dog park here in Sausalito. We spend hours there, Em interacting and me sitting with the proud owners of the dogs laughing at their antics and cheering them on like children at a sports event at school.

At one point, today, I counted 28 dogs at this park. It is different from the one at home in Brookings. This one has permanent seating and picnic benches, large mounds of soft dirt and mulch for the diggers, lots of tennis balls for the dogs to play with, and tennis rackets and ball launchers for their people to send the balls flying into the air and start a chasing frenzy for the dogs. There are stainless steel water bowls next to a garden hose and pooper scoopers lining the fence for . . . well you know. Mature trees dot the field and lend their shade on a hot sunny day. Today is cool and overcast perfect for hard play.

Some of the dogs Em played with today were new to us. There was an English Bull dog and a beautiful Irish Setter with a dark burgundy color coat, a seven month old Golden Retriever and many others with questionable lineage. Still a great group.

All the dogs here are friendly as are the people. We have not had a bad experience yet. Saturday we will have been here two weeks and have come pretty much everyday. It will be good to get home and visit friends at our park but this has been a great experience for us both.
