San Francisco

Recently I returned to the big city of San Francisco to celebrate my daughter Erin's 28th birthday which falls each year on or around Thanksgiving. This visit I decided to fly in to the International Airport instead of making the drive. Those of you who know me or have read about my previous visit know how I do in traffic and crowds but nothing will keep me away from visiting my daughter.

Erin picked me up and we went off to visit her new loft in the city. It is very upscale and modern looking. She lives in a renovated industrial area with one roommate in a two bedroom two bath loft. Very cool.

We ate and we shopped but most of all we waited in line . . . for everything. Not just one or two or four people but 30 or more. Erin tells me that is normal for anytime of year.

We went to see the place where she works. The Kohl Mansion is on the list off the top 50 most haunted places. It is the location of Mercy High School where Erin teaches ASL to High School girls. The grounds and the buildings are very impressive. Built in 1912, the 63 room rose brick mansion is complete with marble floors, wood carved fireplaces and wonderful antique furniture. There is a rose garden and a Koi pond, a newly added swimming pool and tennis courts. It covers 40 acres in Burlingame. Many weddings and other social events are held there.

Thanksgiving consisted of a Frozen turkey breast and stuffing from a local market that was delicious. We added fresh green beans and mashed potatoes and pumpkin cheese cake for desert. It was excellent. Another wonderful visit and good time spent with Erin.
