Before restoration, a $3.00 marble bought from an older gentleman at a yard sale. He said he told his children and grand children and probably great grand children there was a peppermint inside and if they hit it hard enough they could get the candy out. Needless to say it got battered. I was told that restoration is never good that an antique is best with the patina of it's age and use but in this case I think it was best so I found a man on the East Coast that fixes these and sent it off with a check and a prayer that it would return restored to its full glory.
And here it is after. A handmade German Swirl made 1890 to 1900's. A 2" marble valued now anywhere from $300 to $3,000 (not sure yet) But well worth the money to fix it up. It is beautiful!
