Here We Go

Spring Break. The serenity shattered. Great gobs of hurried humanity rush around me. Horns honking - nobody moves fast enough irregardless of the stopped traffic ahead and the woman in the motorized cart crossing perilously in front of the line of cars. Calls coming in insisting on a future forecast for which my crystal ball has not yet proffered. The negative energy of someone sure everyone is beating him to something precious yet just out of his reach and if he pushes hard, insists loudly and steps on enough toes he just might get that - which he is lacking. If I can just ignore the push and shove of it all there is much to enjoy. Stories of where our visitors come from. Children and parents talk of passing gray whale spouts or seeing a tail. There are stories of the fish catch or the one that got away, bon fires on the beach and general joy just for getting away for a few days. Older folks tell me about how it used to be. What is was and what we will never see again. They talk of how long they have been coming here, who they knew and how much better things were. I know soon we will have a lull. Everyone will go back to work and school . . . until summer hits. Then heere we go again.
